L’innovation frugale ?

L’innovation frugale est une philosophie de conception qui suggère de faire mieux avec moins. Elle privilégie la valeur pour l’utilisateur plutôt que la sophistication technologique. L’objectif est de faire avec les moyens du bord. D’avoir en quelque sorte une approche qui favorise la simplicité et l’essentiel au superflu.

Les pays en voie de développement jouent un grand rôle dans l’émergence de cette innovation. Les faibles ressources disponibles imposent en effet aux innovateurs de ces pays de répondre aux besoins locaux par des solutions simples, peu coûteuses, ingénieuses. Ceci permet d’apparenter l’innovation frugale à ce qui est plus connu dans le monde occidental comme le Système D

Elle intègre les paramètres sociétaux au cœur des projets, plutôt que de les laisser en marge. La philosophie de la frugalité est de répondre à des enjeux sociaux et environnementaux. Il s’agit de cultiver l’innovation durable, sans gaspillage et accessible à tous.

Les acheteurs américains se soucient de plus en plus des questions sociales et écologiques : 40 % d’entre eux préfèrent acheter des produits qui correspondent à leurs valeurs personnelles. 79 % des Français comptent renoncer aux marques qui ne sont pas engagées sur le plan éthique et moral. L’innovation frugale est une stratégie de rupture qui permet aux entreprises de développer et de lancer systématiquement des produits et services abordables, éthiques, et durables qui offrent une meilleure valeur aux clients à moindre coût.

Les grands principes :

Frugale et pas Low-cost: l’innovation frugale se différencie d’une logique uniquement low-cost qui vise de faire moins cher en jouant essentiellement sur la qualité du produit et le niveau de service. Au contraire l’innovation frugale invite à supprimer le superflu sans concession sur la qualité et l’efficacité. Cela englobe la notion de sur-qualité et nécessite de bien connaître le juste besoin. La simplicité : la simplicité rime souvent avec fiabilité. La durabilité : proposer des produits durables, indémodables et réparables. La souplesse d’utilisation.

Réutiliser des technologies et des ressources existantes :

Frugale et Low-tech : l’innovation frugale se rapprocherait plutôt de la philosophie low-tech. La vitesse d’accès au marché : l’innovation frugale est aussi un bon moyen pour aller plus vite en utilisant des technos déjà éprouvées. Qui de ce fait sont aussi robustes et durables. C’est un gain de temps considérable dans les plannings de test et de qualification. La sobriété : c’est la volonté de minimiser la consommation de ressources et d’autre part la dimension circulaire c.a.d le fait de réutiliser les déchets. Conscience des enjeux environnementaux. Le coût : utiliser des technos existantes permet aussi d’envisager des économies d’échelle par plus de rationalité. Les technos : il faut garder en tête que l’innovation n’est qu’une combinaison de briques existantes. Et nombreux sont les exemples où les transferts de technos sont possibles.
